Mr Morton a former Thomas Becket Catholic School pupil who now lives in London, said he had never auditioned for a TV programme before.

He said: “I have been singing since I was nine years old. I do a lot of gigs in London but I never thought I would audition for something like this.

“I was really nervous on stage but I was also really excited as well.

“It was really good to meet all the judges and see their personalities sand talk about the industry.”

Viewers can find out whether Mr Morton got through to the next round on the programme airing at 7.45pm on BBC1 on Saturday.
