New vicar joins St Benedict's Church in Northampton

A church in Northampton welcomed a new vicar at a special ceremony at the weekend.

The Rev Canon Anne Davis has joined St Benedict’s Church in Hunsbury and was inducted by the Right Reverend Donald Allister, the Bishop of Peterborough and the Venerable Richard Ormston the Archdeacon of Northampton.

Rev Anne has come from a parish in the Wirral, and has moved with her husband Richard to the vicarage in West Hunsbury.

There were many visitors from the local community to welcome Rev Anne to the parish, including the Mayor of Northampton, visitors from local schools and many fellow priests and ministers from Northampton churches.

Among others, bellringers, children, and Mother’s Union from the church, Councillor Chris Malpas from Northampton Borough Council, local schools, greeted her in various ways.  

Parishioners from her previous parish of Woodchurch also made the long journey down to mark the occasion.

Rev Anne will begin working in the parish immediately, getting to know parishioners, and local schools and other community facilities. She will be leading regular services and special Easter events in the coming weeks as well as getting to know her new area.
