New public cafe to be opened at Northampton and County Club

Called George’s, it will offer a locally-sourced, home-cooked menu with an emphasis on the quality of both food and service. 

A spokesman for George’s said: “The Northampton and County Club has a long tradition of elegant dining so customers can expect a fabulous experience.

“All food is home-cooked on the premises and the menu features a high quality fresh cooked breakfast, a lunch menu beyond light snacks, and home baked cakes.” 

Chair of the club Jim Shuttlewood said: “It’s a new departure for us, but the opportunity arose to open a cafe in George Row and we felt it was not only good business for the club but it will make everyone aware there is a club here.”

The cafe was the brainchild of manager Julie Bignell and head chef Steve Bignell.

With many years experience between them in the hospitality industry Julie and Steve came to the Northampton and County Club over a year ago and are keen to share their passion for food with the wider public. Julie is keen to share her commitment to high levels of customer service too.

She said: ’If someone decides to eat out, they are paying for the whole experience and a firm believer in what some people call old-fashioned customer service. 

“The Northampton and County club has high standards for its members so all our staff are familiar with the level of service expected.”

The cafe also has three cosy private rooms at the back.

Chairman Jim Shuttlewood said: “We know that many people now work in a more fluid way than the traditional office 9 to 5, so given that Northampton is in a fantastic business location, being equidistant London - Birmingham and Oxford-Cambridge, the rooms will enable people to have impromptu one off meetings  in an easily accessible venue.”

The cafe will be open from 9am to 5pm.
