New plans submitted for takeaway, diner and tanning salon on Northampton housing estate
A Northampton housing estate looks set to get a hot food takeaway, diner, and a tanning salon, among other new services.
The application site - situated on the corner of High Street and Weedon Road in Upton - is part of a scheme that already plays host to shops and new homes and will soon welcome 'professional and financial services' a cafe or restaurant, a takeaway and a tanning salon, if given the green light.
Papers submitted to Guildhall councillors say: "The district centre comprises a number of other retail units, one of which is a larger convenience store.
" Allowing a broader range of uses will ensure that the district centre can be let to a broad range of complementary uses and also affords the opportunity to strengthen its offering."
A national convenience store operator has been secured for unit 1 but papers add that "the current restrictions on use class have severely limited the range of potential interest."
