The play area at Eastfield Park includes a variety of swings, slides and other play equipment for children and will be officially opened at 2pm.

Locals are invited to come along early, bring a picnic, and let the kids enjoy a bouncy castle that will also be there on the day. With additional funding needed to complete the facilities, the play area is being split into two phases with the majority of the equipment being installed and ready for the official opening and the rest to be built at a later date.Dr Vic Smith, chair of Friends of Eastfield Park, said: "I’m delighted that the project has gone ahead and with the progress that’s been made so far."£46,000 has been put forward to complete the works up to this point, with bids for additional funding currently being organised so the rest of the work can be completed."Councillor Anna King has also given £300 from her councillor empowerment fund to cover the costs of the opening event which we all hope will be well attended."Dr Smith and Cllr King will be joined by Michael Ellis, MP for Northampton North, in opening the park. The opening of the park is one of the key events in Northampton’s participation of Love Parks Week – a nationally-recognised initiative that celebrates the nation’s parks and green spaces.
