MK Dons '˜fear Cobblers fans will outnumber them' on Tuesday

Cobblers fans will not be offered any further FA Cup tickets for Tuesday's match at MK Dons, despite selling their allocation.

Northampton Town fans took up the original allocation of 6,216 tickets on offer at stadiummk. And yesterday evening sales were going well of 729 extra tickets released at 6pm.

But despite the ground forecast to be nowhere near its capacity 30,500 capacity, MK Dons have declined to give more Northampton supporters the chance to attend a huge game.

Stuart Taylor, chairman of the supporters’ trust said: “I’m very disappointed. It seems to me like they want nothing like parity with their own fans.

“Its suggests to me the games is not going to be very well supported by the home supporters.

“It sounds like they don’t want to be outdone by seven or eight thousand Northampton fans.”

Roger Averill, also of the supporters’ trust said: “It’s a strange one. Some people have been suggesting MK Dons don’t want us outnumbering their own fans.

“It’s weird, given that it looks like the ground won’t be much past half full.

“It will probably mean more away fans trying to get into the home end.

MK Dons said they, like all clubs, are compelled to offer 15 per cent of their total stadium capacity to away fans in the FA Cup but have gone beyond that, offering around 20 per cent.

It is possible to offer even more away tickets and MK Dons have done so for a match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, when about 9,000 away fans attended.

However, it is understood that the difficulty in handling so many away fans on that occasion has discouraged the Milton Keynes club from selling more for Tuesday.
