At just 17 years old, Simran Ali was one of the youngest winners of the Heart of the Community Awards for her fundraising work for Northampton General Hospital. Robin Ward was recognised for his work, spanning more than 40 years, with Parklands Community Association and Debbie Smith was nominated for her tireless work in the Abington community and supporting Cedar Road Primary School.

Mayor of Northampton, Councillor Penelope Flavell, said: “The Heart of the Community Awards is an opportunity for us all to say thank you to those very special people in our community who are dedicated to making a difference. There are so many hardworking groups and individuals who go the extra mile for the sake of others and I do hope that people will take the time to nominate anyone they know who is working hard to improve the lives of people in the local area.”

Nominations are accepted until Friday 11 March and can be submitted online at: http://www.northampton.gov.uk/heartofthecommunity

More information is also available from the Mayor’s office by calling 01604 837804 or emailing [email protected]

All nominations will be considered by a panel of independent judges and the winners will be invited to a celebration event at The Guildhall in April.
