Did you know that Brackley was the birthplace of the Magna Carta or that Towcester can lay claim to having its very own Pope? These are among the interesting facts in two new guides The Heritage of Towcester and The Heritage of Brackley.

Produced as part of the award-winning Explore series of tourism information produced by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) these guides begin with the origins of the towns and lead up to their present day.

Director of development, Calvin Bell said: “Steeped in layers of history both market towns have much to offer the visitor and these eye-catching guides illustrate beautifully the journey these towns have taken to become the vibrant places they are today.

“Both of these guides contain a great range of events suitable for the whole family, which not only provide a great day out but also help boost the local economy.”

The guides can be downloaded at www.southnorthants.gov.uk//tourism or picked up from our offices in Towcester and Brackley.
