Heroic PD Bryn finds missing man, 88, with Alzheimers after desperate call from concerned family

Just after midnight on October 5, Northamptonshire Police received a call from a worried family member of an 88-year-old man with Alzheimer’s to report him missing from an address in Northampton.

Response officers, an armed response vehicle, a helicopter, a drone and PD Bryn were all sent out to help search for the missing man. He was only wearing his pyjamas when he went missing.

Concerns for the welfare of the 88-year-old man grew as temperatures dipped to 8 degrees Celsius.

PD Bryn located the missing man in the Duston area just before 1am. He was cold but he was safe and returned home to his family.

Both officers and members of the public flocked to Twitter to praise PD Bryn.

One person commented: "Totally awesome, PD Bryn and handler! What an amazing job our police force and their dogs!"

Another said: "How reassuring it is to be found by such a kind cuddly face!"

One member of the public hoped PD Bryn was treated for his hard work: "Clever boy. I hope you got sausages as a well deserved reward."
