Grosvenor Centre evacuated after fire alarm triggered

The Grosvenor Centre in Northampton town centre was evacuated earlier today (June 18).

Staff reported being asked to leave at around midday.

Alongside customers, they were told to congregate in Market Square where they remained for around an hour.

The shopping centre has now confirmed the that fire alarm was triggered by a technical system and that trading has now resumed.

James Roberts, centre manager at Grosvenor Shopping Northampton, said: “Grosvenor Shopping Northampton was evacuated this afternoon following the fire alarm being triggered by one of the centre’s technical systems.

"I can now confirm the centre has been given the all clear to reopen and continue trading.

“I would like to thank staff and colleagues at Grosvenor Shopping Northampton for their efficiency and diligence and to thank our customers for their patience and understanding.”
