Granny Turismo and balloon art specialists feature in Love Northampton Market day

Activities at the Market Square event will include balloon art from Balloonatic alongside entertainment from giant puppetry act The Pigeons and shopping trolley dance display team Granny Turismo.

The entertainment will run from 10.30am to 4pm. The Pigeons will be on for half hour performances at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Granny Turismo will take a turn at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Balloonatic will perform at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

Northamptonshire Police will have a stand at the event from 11am until 2.30pm with finger printing and uniforms for children to try on alongside personal safety information.

Army Careers will also be there on the day with their recruitment centre roadshow truck for anyone considering a career in the army.

The fun day is part of the national Love Your Local Market campaign which aims to highlight the importance of markets in our local communities. More than 1,000 markets across the country will be taking part in the annual campaign which takes place from May 17 to May 31.

Councillor Jonathan Nunn, assistant cabinet member with responsibility for markets, said: “We hope that as many people as possible come along to join in with the celebrations at the market, enjoy the entertainment and browse the fantastic range of fresh produce and goods that the market has to offer.”
