GALLERY: Fresh images show new Northampton Museum and Art Gallery
New images of the revamp of Northampton Museum and Art Gallery have been released by the architects behind the scheme.
The go-ahead has been given to expand the museum by Northampton Borough Council.
GSS was appointed by Northampton Borough Council as architects, lead consultants and principal designers to lead the transformation.
The proposals add a 500m² extension and extend into the former Gaol Block on Angel Street to create a new shoe gallery to showcase the museum’s collection. In addition, a new temporary exhibition gallery, events space, café and link space are created.
Tom Jagger, of GSSArchitecture, said the project would transform the role of the museum in the area, “by providing an enriched and improved museum offer, the project will contribute to the regeneration of Northampton town centre, helping to enhance the entertainment, learning and leisure aspects of the community".
