Former University of Northampton student named most wealthy YouTuber in the world, Forbes magazine reveals

The head of department at the University of Northampton has said staff 'are very proud' of their graduate who has just been named the world's richest vlogger.

Former 2010 music production student turned-gamer, Dan Middleton, 26, has earned a whopping £12.3 million this year by filming himself playing video games such as Minecraft and Pokemon in his own home.

Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Science & Technology, John Sinclair, said: “I’m personally delighted to hear of Dan’s incredible success.

"My colleagues who taught and knew him speak very highly of him and we are very proud of him; he’s a great role model for young people.”

The computer game enthusiast from Aldershot has made his fortune by explaining to his 16 million subscribers how to accomplish more challenging levels and by offering general tips and tricks of his trade.

Dan, who started his video channel, DanTDM, while studying in Northampton has recently toured the world, selling out the Sydney Opera House in the second-fastest selling show at the venue of all time.
