Flooding causes part of A45 around Northampton to close causing severe delays

The A45 in Northampton is currently closed to traffic heading westbound this morning (Thursday).

Flooding near Grange Park has caused part of the major route around town to close heading westbound towards the M1.

The slip road onto the A45 towards the M1 at the Queen Eleanor junction is also closed.

Traffic is being diverted around the flooded carriageway at Wootton via Berry Lane and Wooldale Lane while work is done to clear the floodwater, Northamptonshire Police tweeted.

Traffic is queuing for around seven miles back to Earls Barton.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service first reported the flooding at around 4.55am while the police's armed response team said drivers had been 'outwitted by the super puddle'.
