The report, produced by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, looked specifically at communication with a group of residents of Staffordshire.

But Mrs Leadsom said: “On behalf of the many residents of South Northamptonshire who have reported similar experiences with HS2 Ltd, I am pleased that the Ombudsman recognised this important issue.

“I have always worked hard to ensure that my constituents’ views are communicated directly to HS2 Ltd, and I will always be happy to support any constituent who wishes to raise issues or questions,” he said.

Dame Julie Mellor DBE, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration, said: “I am laying this report before Parliament under section 10(4) of the Parliamentary Commissioner Act 1967 to bring the issues we uncovered to the attention of Parliament and the public more widely.

“By doing so, I want Parliament to hold HS2 Ltd to account to ensure that it has learnt from this case.”
