Firefighters tackling blaze at Daventry scrapyard with huge plume of smoke visible for miles

Firefighters are currently dealing with a fire at a scrapyard in Daventry that has caused a huge plume of smoke which can be seen for miles.
Between 30 and 40 cars caught fire at Intapart car parts site in London Road from around 8pm this evening (Monday, August 3).

Hide AdResidents have been asked to close their windows and the A45 was closed between the new roundabout at Weedon and Stefan Way roundabout in Daventry.
A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: “Emergency services were called just before 8pm this evening (Monday, August 3) to reports of a large fire at Intapart Ltd, London Road, Daventry.
“Between 30 and 40 cars at the site were on fire. Seven fire engines and two water carriers were used to bring it under control, with support from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.
“Fire crews were able to prevent the fire spreading to other stock at the yard.
“The A45 between Weedon and Daventry has now reopened.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”

Hide AdEight fire engines are currently at the scene, according to an eye-witness, while others claim the smoke can be seen from as far as 30 miles away in Leicestershire.
Another eye-witness said: "There was quite a few loud bangs, sparks coming off of the vans too."
