Fire service believes electrical fault caused blaze at Northampton block of flats

An electrical fault is believed to have caused a fire at a block of flats in Northampton, according to the fire service.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said the three people who suffered smoke inhalation during the blaze on High Street, Upton, yesterday (Tuesday, September 8) are recovering.

Residents who were evacuated after the fire broke out at around 10am are being rehomed while the damage is sorted, a spokesperson added.

High Street was closed while the fire service dealt with the incident but has since reopened.
