Fire at Northampton home hospitalised elderly man and left property 'smoke logged'
The cause of the fire is currently unknown
An elderly man was hospitalised this morning (March 17) after a Northampton home caught fire and left the property smoke logged.
The fire and rescue service was called to the residence on Laburnum Crescent at 11.36am by the East Midlands Ambulance Service, who confirmed that they extinguished the fire after they arrived. The property was, however, filled with smoke.
Firefighters then helped paramedics to evacuate one elderly man, who was then assessed onsite then transported to hospital.
A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner said: "The cause of the fire is currently unknown but fire crew and officers are still at the scene to make the property safe and to investigate the source. Police have been informed."
Northamptonshire Police have been contacted for comment.
