Fight breaks out outside Northampton swimming pool

A man was punched several times in a fight in Northampton town centre.

The fight broke out in Upper Mounts some time between 11.40am and noon on Friday, January 27.

A man and a woman were walking away from the Mounts Baths swimming pool towards the Charles Bradlaugh pub in Earl Street when another man bumped into the woman, causing an argument between the men.

Two men were then seen running down the street towards the swimming pool before a fight broke out near the traffic lights, during which the victim is punched several times.

The offender is described as white, 6ft, with a medium build. He was aged 30-35 with short, dark hair. He was wearing a red coat with a fur hood, Marvel character jogging bottoms and he had a tattoo on his right upper arm.

The victim is described as white, 5ft' 9in, with a medium build, balding hair and dark eyes. He was aged 35-40 and was wearing a dark-coloured coat, light coloured bottoms and carrying a backpack.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
