The streets in Northampton which have had the most reports of fly-tipping have been revealed.
Information obtained by Chronicle & Echo via a Freedom of Information (FOI) request confirms from November 1, 2019 to November 1, 2020, Northampton Borough Council received 20, 273 reports of fly-tipping.
Some of these reports may have been regarding the same incident as the duplications could not be separated.
Of the more than 20,000 reports, 2,824 were received within the first national coronavirus lockdown between March 23 and May 18, 2020.
Councillor Mike Hallam, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for environment: “Our reporting figures cover a wide scope of incidents, including domestic refuse left outside by households either too early or late.
“However, every report the council receives about possible fly-tipping is investigated fully and enforcement action taken if we find evidence of illegal activity.
“We continue to encourage our local communities to help reduce such incidents by reporting them to us.”
Some streets in the town had more than 150 reports of fly-tipping in the 12-month period.
