A rat was spotted scurrying among a huge pile of rubbish dumped on the side of a road that leads to a beauty spot in Northampton.

A bed, a mattress, a load of tyres and bin bags have been piled on top of each other on the lane to Sixfields Reservoir.

Freelance photographer Leila Coker said the fly-tip was the worst she has seen it when she noticed it on Friday (January 22).

A sign on one of the bin bags says Northampton Borough Council is aware of the illegal waste and is investigating.

A council spokesperson said the best way to highlight any issues with fly-tips, street cleansing issues, missed bin collections and graffiti is to visit its website or use its app.
