5. Forum in Cattle Market Road and Bridge Street
The former restaurant sits on both Cattle Market Road and Bridge Street, a prominent location in town. However, the building has been left boarded up and abandoned for years. Plans have been submitted to convert the spot into flats but a decision is yet to be made by the council. Photo: Google
6. St Crispin's Hospital
The former psychiatric hospital opened in 1876 and closed in 1995. The perimeter of the Grade II listed building is boarded up and it remains derelict. Despite an inferno ripping through the former hospital block in 2014, two years later a planning application was lodged to demolish the existing ward blocks, restore the clock tower and build 137 flats and 98 houses on the site. However, little progress has been made to bring the site back into use. Photo: Google
7. The White Horse pub in Harborough Road
Situated in a prominent position on the Mill Lane/Harborough Road crossroads, The White Horse has been closed down for years. Boarded up and abandoned, it has now become a graffiti canvas and is well-known for its Star Wars artwork. Photo: Google
8. St Edmunds Hospital in Wellinborough Road
Although not as derelict as it once was, the former Victorian workhouse, built in 1836, is still an eyesore. The site has stood derelict for 19 years, but in 2017 a planning application from Kayalef Holdings Limited was approved, permitting the building of a 130-apartment retirement village and 62-bed specialist care home. Construction work did start on the site but work has paused since the Covid pandemic in 2020. Photo: Google
