A diversion is also in place on St George's Avenue as police have shut the road. A large section of the park is also cordoned off.

Northamptonshire Police have confirmed they are dealing with an incident, but are yet to release details of what is happening.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "We are currently dealing with an incident in St George's Avenue, Northampton near the Racecourse.

"The road is currently shut and we are advising people to avoid the area.

"More updates will be provided as soon as we have them."
