Road closed near Northamptonshire village while firefighters respond to smoke and flames coming from electric vehicle
A main road near a Northamptonshire village was closed for a number of hours, while firefighters responded to smoke and flames coming from an electric vehicle.
The incident happened on the A428 near West Haddon, just before 7.20pm on Friday July 10.
The road was closed between the West Haddon roundabout and the Long Buckby turn and drivers were advised to avoid the area.
A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) said: “Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from under the dashboard of an electric vehicle. Firefighters acted quickly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to a nearby field.

“Wearing breathing apparatus, crews used a hose-reel jet to extinguish the blaze, while a thermal imaging camera was used to check for any remaining hotspots and ensure the area was safe.
"The cause of the fire is believed to have been an accidental electrical fault.”
Firefighters remained at the scene for several hours before returning to station around 1.30am.
