One person taken to hospital after house fire in Northampton as huge emergency service response causes rush hour delays

One person has been taken to hospital after a house fire in Northampton, which led to a huge emergency services response.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) was called shortly after 6am on Wednesday March 4, to a fire in a first-floor bedroom in a mid-terrace home in Rillwood Court.

All emergency services were called and rush hour traffic was affected in the Lumbertubs area, as roads had to be closed.

A NFRS spokeswoman said: “Crews from Moulton, The Mounts and Mereway attended the incident, using breathing apparatus and a hose‑reel jet to extinguish a fire located in a first‑floor bedroom.

“One person was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by EMAS. A full search of the property was completed, and no further casualties were found. Neighbouring properties were also checked to ensure the fire had not spread.

“Crews remain on scene to monitor the property, check for hotspots, and assess any structural damage.”

A fire investigation will also be carried out.
