Firefighters called to grass fire 'spreading at a considerable rate' across Northampton beauty spot
Firefighters were called to a grass fire, which was “spreading at a considerable rate” across a Northampton beauty spot.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) was called to Bradlaugh Fields, off Fulford Drive on Thursday July 9 at around 6.40pm.
A spokeswoman for NFRS said: “Firefighters attended a grass fire that was spreading at a considerable rate across the open space. Multiple crews used hose-reel jets, beaters, wildfire backpacks and water backpacks to tackle the blaze, while a drone was deployed to help identify hotspots.
“The fire was extinguished and firefighters then carried out damping-down operations, dealing with remaining hotspots.

“Firefighters returned to their stations at around 9.15pm after all hotspots had been identified and made safe.”
The spokeswoman added that the cause is currently undetermined as it will be subject to a fire investigation, however initial indications suggest it may have been accidental.
