Driver's miracle escape after tyre blow-out on M1 in Northamptonshire

Police revealed a driver had a miracle escape after his vehicle suffered a blow out on the M1 in Northamptonshire last night.
The northbound motorway was closed near Daventry, between junction 17 and junction 18, while firefighters spent more than an hour cutting the occupant out of the Ford Fiesta following the smash.

Hide AdReports from Northamptonshire Police later revealed the 25-year-old suffered only minor injuries.
The driver of a silver Mercedes E class also involved in the smash was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified and having no insurance.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Appliances from Long Buckby and Daventry were called to the incident at 6.54pm last night.
"The crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the side and roof of the vehicle in order for the driver to be released."

Hide AdTraffic was diverted via the A45 and A5 for around three hours while the motorway was closed.
