The A14 heading out of Northamptonshire had to be closed off earlier after a car collided with a lorry.

Police were called to an incident on the A14 earlier this afternoon (October 21) after a Fiat Doblo was in a collision with a lorry.

Despite the front of the driver’s car being smashed up, he luckily escaped with minor soft tissue injuries. The patient was treated by ambulance crews at the scene before he was transported to Hinchingbrooke Hospital for further assessment and care.

Highways England said the A14 was blocked eastbound between Junction 14 at Brampton and Junction 15 for Toll Bar Lane with diversions in place from Junction 13 at Thrapston.

The road remained closed for approximately two hours because of fuel on the road that needed to be cleaned up.

The A14 has since been reopened.
