Delays on M1 in Northamptonshire due to piles of clothes on the road

Drivers are facing delays in the northbound direction between junction 16 in Daventry and junction 15a in Towcester after the clothing blew out of a recycling lorry travelling down the motorway.

A police spokesman said officers were called out to the motorway shortly after 11am after reports that cars were swerving to avoid the clothes.

A recycling lorry has been stopped on the hard shoulder and road traffic officers are working to clear all the clothes from the road.
