Delays expected on M1 in Northamptonshire after van leaves carriageway

Delays are expected on the M1 after a serious collision whereby a van has left the carriageway in Northamptonshire.

One lane of the southbound carriageway from Watford Gap Services to Junction 16 for the A4500 is currently closed.

Highways officers, recovery and East Midlands Ambulance Service are at the scene dealing with the incident.

Northamptonshire Police confirmed the collision happened 8.45am and involved a van and a black saloon car.

Although police officers are not in attendance, a spokeswoman was able to confirm there are no serious injuries.

According to Highways England, traffic is building in the area and drivers should allow extra time for their journey.
