Residents across Northamptonshire reported seeing eight fighter jets flying very low over the county this morning (March 26).

The eight US F-15C Eagle jets emitted a loud roar as they were seen zooming over houses unusually low at around 10.30am and alarmed residents were quick to take to social media.

One man, Craig Lyon, managed to capture a video of the jets flying close to his house. He tweeted: "Jets zooming over Northampton about 15 mins ago. Missed the fastest ones! My voice sounds so worried, but I was excited I promise!"

The Royal Air Force at Lakenheath confirmed that eight F-15s did fly today from their air base to Wales as part of routine training.

A spokeswoman for RAF Lakenheath said: "Trainings like this ensure that the airmen at the 48th Fighter Wing based in RAF Lakenheath are ready to protect and defend partners, allies, and U.S. interests at a moment’s notice, and generate lethal combat power should it be needed."
