Woman in court over assault on Northampton vicar during Remembrance Day service

A woman has been given a community order sentence after a Remembrance Day attack at a Northampton town centre church.

Caroline Tynan, 44, admitted assaulting Rev Oliver Coss at All Saints Church in November last year.

Court documents claimed she lunged towards Rev Coss in a manner which placed him in fear of unlawful violence.

Tynan, of Darwin Walk, Northampton, also pleaded guilty to assaulting a police constable while resisting arrest following a 999 call to the incident during the Remembrance Day service on November 8 last year.

The community orders means Tynan must "comply with any instructions of a responsible officer to attend appointments or to participate in any activity as required by the responsible officer up to a maximum of 20 days."

She was also ordered to pay £180 towards prosecution costs and a surcharge to fund victim services.
