Woman hunted after spitting at Northampton bus passenger during row over face mask

Detectives are hunting a woman who spat at a fellow bus passenger after being asked to put on a face mask on a journey through Northampton.

Pictures from CCTV cameras on board have identified a female on board the No16 bus who officers would like to trace as they believe she may hold relevant information.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 3.15pm on January 9, a man travelling on the bus near Weston Favell asked a female passenger without a face mask to put one on.

"The woman began shouting as she approached the man before spitting towards him from a foot away.

"She was then told to leave the bus by the driver, and got off in Booth Lane South."

The No16 bus, operated by Stagecoach, runs between Ecton Brook and Northampton town centre.

Police would like the woman pictured to come forward or, anyone who recognises her or has information about the incident to call 101 using incident number 21000015720.
