Police have arrested a 48-year-old woman in connection with an alleged theft from Northampton General Hospital.

It is understood that vital personal protective equipment (PPE) was taken from the site.

And it is alleged the crucial gear was then attempted to be sold online.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “We can confirm that we have arrested a 48-year-old woman on suspicion of theft in connection with items that have been stolen from Northampton General Hospital.

“She has been released on bail pending further enquiries.”

Northampton General Hospital has been contacted for comment.
