The boys - aged between 10 and 11 - followed a family with young children between 4pm and 5pm as they visited an area by the River Nene.

They were verbally abusive towards the family and threw firecrackers at them, with one hitting a 40-year-old woman on her arm.

A police spokesman said: "Fortunately, this did not cause any injuries.

"All three boys were white and aged between 10 to 11 years.

"One boy had ginger hair and was riding a bicycle and the other two had scooters."
