'We do believe this was a targeted attack': Police continue hunt for murder suspects after 16 year old boy found stabbed in Abington area of Northampton
Northampton’s Major Crime Team continue hunt for murder suspects as officers reveal they think the 16 year old boy was fatally stabbed in a ‘targeted attack’.
Chief Inspector Nicola Davis-Lyons officially confirmed today (Thursday) – during an interview from the crime scene in Adnitt Road – that the boy who was found fatally stabbed at around 7pm on Tuesday July 7 was 16 years old.
Chief Insp Davis-Lyons said: “First of all, I want to offer my most sincere condolences to the boy’s family and friends.
“They are understandably devastated and specialist officers are supporting them at this time.

“Our focus now is to get them justice for what has happened.
“This is an exceptionally fast-paced investigation which is being led by our major crime team and multiple lines of enquiry are being followed in order to ascertain the events leading up to this incident and ultimately work out who was responsible.”
Northamptonshire Police officers were called to a house in Adnitt Road just before 7pm on Tuesday after reports that a teenage boy had been stabbed.
Despite the best efforts of members of the public, police and paramedics, the teenager sadly died at the scene, police said.
Adnitt Road has been cordoned off since the attack as well as a large section of Dallington park where officers believe the suspects fled.
Chief Insp Davis-Lyons continued: “I would appeal for anyone out there who has any information who has not yet come forward to please do so.
“What you know could be the missing piece of the puzzle and we would always rather receive well-meaning information that turns out to be nothing than not receive it at all.
“A police cordon is expected to remain in place at the address in Adnitt Road as well as in Dallington Park where we believe the suspects fled to following the incident as this investigation continues.
“We do believe this is a targeted attack and there is no risk to members of the public.”
House-to-house enquiries and increased police presence will remain in the area, including high-visibility patrols to offer reassurance and support the community. Anyone who has any concerns is encouraged to speak to an officer.
Chief Insp Davis-Lyons concluded: “We know that this incident will cause a lot of concern for the local community and I want to offer reassurance that we are doing all that we can to establish what has happened here and to identify those responsible.” Members of the public are also urged to avoid both of the cordoned areas, where possible.
Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident number: 26000400106.
