Violent Northampton man receives another jail sentence after victims recognise his picture in the Chron

A violent offender from Northampton has received another jail sentence after a victim of an attempted robbery recognised his image on a story on the Chronicle & Echo website.

Liam Norris, aged 22, who was sentenced to almost two years in prison last September after he was convicted of a number of assaults, has received another 32-month jail sentence after he admitted two attempted robberies.

Northampton Crown Court heard Norris attacked two teenage boys in Wellingborough Road, Northampton, shortly after 7am on July 2.

Esther Harrison, prosecuting, said Norris asked the two boys “what have you go for me? Have you got any money?”.

MS Harrison said the boys attempted to walk away but he threw one of them to the floor and hit him in the ribs.

The court heard the boys managed to get away from Norris and then recognised him as their attacker when the Chron published Norris’s image on the story of his court appearance in September last year.

Her Honour Judge Adrienne Lucking sentenced Norris, who is currently in HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes, to 32 months in prison.

Norris is currently serving a 90-week prison sentence, including one year for the actual bodily harm offence, 26 weeks for the assaults and 12 weeks for breaching his community order.

He admitted a total of 12 offences, including a number of assaults on police officers.
