VIDEO: Brazen burglars wheel out Northampton man's beloved bike in dinner-time break-in

Self-employed Antony Wright is appealing for any information about the theft of his 1999 registered Yamaha DT125, the first bike he ever bought.

His home on Osmund Drive, Goldings, was broken into by two men at around 6pm on Sunday (January 24), who hammered a wooden plank into a back fence to make a stile before sneaking over and unlocking a back gate.

CCTV footage shows a hooded man with peaked cap and white gloves enter the back garden before looking around and discovering the bike in a shed. Together he and a second man in the top left of the screen wheel the bike out of the back gate.

Remarkably Mr Wright’s lodgers, who stay in an annex at the property, had been having a winter barbecue in the garden only moments before but had recently gone into the kitchen.

Mr Wright said: “It’s not nice to see, it just makes you angry.

“I wasn’t scared when I saw the footage, but my tenants were terrified, they were only metres away when this happened.”

Mr Wright, 34, has had to move all of his tools to a lock up around 17 miles away from his home he says, through fear of being burgled again.

He posted the nine-minute long CCTV video on his Facebook page, and within just a couple of days, it has already been shared more than 3,000 times.

Now Mr Wright just wants to see his bike returned.

He said: “This was my first ever motorbike and it has so much sentimental value.”
