Two men jailed after stealing Ford B-Max during burglary in Northampton

Two men have been jailed after stealing a Ford B-Max during a burglary in Northampton.

Jermaine Preston Lewis and Darren Bason were sentenced at Northampton Crown Court earlier this month, following a burglary in September.

44-year-old Lewis committed a series of burglaries across the town, including in Towcester Road, Waveney Way, Chapel Green, Rochelle Way, Swale Drive and Derwent Close, during September 2025.

Police say a variety of items were taken from each property including coins, bank cards, a laptop, a phone, gold rings, a watch and a passport. Lewis also used the bank cards to make fraudulent contactless transactions at shops and petrol stations.

During the Towcester Road burglary, Lewis was joined by 55-year-old Bason. The duo stole one of the occupant’s cars – a blue Ford B-Max.

Lewis was charged with six counts of burglary, six counts of fraud by false representation, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of possessing cannabis and two counts of driving without insurance. He pleaded guilty to all offences in December 2025.

Bason was charged with one count of burglary and one count of fraud by false representation. He was found guilty at a trial at Northampton Magistrates’ Court in February this year.

Lead investigator - PC Christina Cooper, said: “I am pleased that this investigation has resulted in two custodial sentences as it means Northampton is just that little bit safer without Jermaine Lewis and Darren Bason prowling the streets looking for people’s homes to burgle.”

Lewis, of no fixed abode, was jailed for three years and six months and Bason, previously of Harlestone Road, was handed a sentence of three years.
