Two men are being held by police following a robbery in Northampton town centre late last night (Tuesday, March 17).

A Chronicle & Echo reader tweeted a photo of an area of St Mary's Lane being cordoned off near Sol Central following the incident in Chalk Lane at about 11pm.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "Two men aged 29 and 24 were arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody today.

"We would ask for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information to please contact us on 101, quoting reference number 20000150413."
