A man in his 30s suffered a fractured eye socket during a brutal beating near to Daventry town centre on Friday night.

Police believe the victim was attacked by two or three other men in Oxford Street at around 9.30pm.

A 20-year-man was arrested in connection with the incident then released under investigation pending further enquiries.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The victim was punched repeatedly by two or three men.

"We would like to hear from anybody who was in the Oxford Street area at around 9.30pm on Friday and might have seen this incident.
