Three-month closure order issued for Daventry property after drug dealing and use caused 'significant upset and disruption'

A three-month closure order has been issued for a Daventry property, after ongoing drug dealing and use caused “significant upset and disruption”.

According to Northamptonshire Police, the property in Crabtree House had seen ongoing reports of drug dealing, drug use and anti-social behaviour.

A spokeswoman for the force said people were often seen using drugs in communal areas and frequently behaving in a “nuisance manner”, which had caused some people in the local community to consider “leaving their homes and moving elsewhere”.

The police force worked to secure a three-month closure order, which was granted by Northampton Magistrates’ Court earlier on April 1.

PC Tom Wills said: “The residents within this property had caused significant upset and disruption to the daily lives of the local community for a long period of time.

“It is our job as police officers to respond to these types of issues and that’s why we worked so hard to secure this closure order.

“I hope it demonstrates that the behaviour demonstrated by these problem residents will not be tolerated, and that Northamptonshire Police will continue to take positive action in situations such as this in order to deter such behaviour and build confidence within the local community.”

The property has now been fully boarded up.
