Teenager arrested over discarded knife following 999 calls from Northampton neighbourhood

Police arrested an 18-year-old man after discovering a discarded knife as they broke up a gang of around 30 youngsters in Northampton on Saturday night.
Officers fielded a number of 999 calls from worried Upton residents at around 7.15pm following reports of a disturbance involving weapons.

Hide AdSome of the youths were also seen kicking the front door of a local shop.
The group scattered as police arrived but left behind a large kitchen knife, while officers also broke up a fight between two of the gang.
Police have indicated the 18-year-old from Northampton arrested on suspicion of possession a knife in a public place and assault is also believed to have been among a group dispersed from near the KFC and Cineworld in Sixfields earlier on Saturday afternoon.
