A gang of three teeenagers assaulted a 13-year-old and stole a mobile phone in Northampton at the weekend.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after the incident in Abington Vale between 4pm and 4.30pm on Saturday (June 20).

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "One of the boys who approached the victim told him to hand over his phone.

"He refused and walked away but the three boys chased him on to Selston Walk where two of them assaulted him, causing reddening to his face.

"The offender who asked for the boy's phone is described as an Asian boy, aged 15-16 years, and was wearing a grey hooded top and glasses.

"One of the offenders who assaulted the victim is white, aged 15 years and the other was an Asian boy.
