The two men — both men aged 19 and from Braunston — attempted to run off once police officers arrived but were then arrested in connection with the theft of the bike, failing to stop at a road traffic collision and driving while disqualified.

One of the pair was also arrested for assaulting an emergency worker. They have been released pending further investigations.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "Our officers investigating this incident would like to hear from anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the men riding the motorcycle prior to the collision, or of the collision itself involving a red Honda SES125.

"If anyone does have information or witnessed this incident, please call us on 101 using reference number 20000483290 — or, if you prefer to remain anonymous, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
