An RSPCA investigation has been launched after two dead geese with clean cuts in their chest were found at a Northamptonshire beauty spot.
The Canadian geese bodies were discovered close together, one with a string around its neck, by a walker in Salcey Forest at about 4pm on Tuesday (November 24).

Due to the state of the bodies, she believes the deaths occurred an hour or so before the birds were found.
“I don’t know how the birds died but I believe this was a deliberate attack. One bird had a string around his neck so I am not sure if it had been strangled," she said.
"But both the birds had clean cuts to the chest which I believe was caused by a knife. An animal attack would not be so clean.

“I am now appealing for anyone with information to come forward to help me find the person responsible for this awful incident.”
Beckie said the area is very popular with walkers and is hoping someone may have seen something suspicious which may help her investigation.
Anyone who can help should call the RSPCA appeals line on 0300 123 8018.
