Witnesses claimed the driver lost control of the car, crossed a patch of grass leaving tyre marks before colliding with the brick wall in front of a bungalow.

Later reports said the vehicle had been spotted speeding off along Melbourne Lane, towards Main Road in Duston.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "Our investigations into this incident are still ongoing but we would encourage anyone with any information to contact us.

"I particular, we would like to hear from anyone with dashcam footage who was driving in the area at the time of this incident. Or, any local residents with CCTV which may have picked up the vehicle.
