RSPCA shop broken into again on same night three Northampton hairdressers targeted

Four Northampton businesses were targeted by thieves over the weekend, including a charity shop that has been broken into three times in the space of a week.

RSPCA Duston in Main Road was once again broken into overnight on Saturday (February 29) or Sunday (March 1).

A window was broken and a charity box was stolen.

This comes after the shop was the victim of burglary overnight on Saturday February 22 and again on Tuesday February 25.On the same night as the most recent break-in, three hairdressers in the town were targeted.

The Gent in Gold Street had its door kicked open in the early hours of Sunday (March 1).

The barber shop is owned by the same person whose other shop The Gentleman’s Quarters in Harlestone Road was broken into last week on the same night as the RSPCA’s second break-in.Following the break-in at Gentleman’s Quarters a 33-year-old man was arrested but has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Jake Hillery, owner of The Gent, has been left distraught by yet another break-in.

He said: “I am annoyed this time because they’ve stolen about £850 and a laptop.

“I can’t believe it happened so close to town where there would have been police patrols.

“I feel like not enough is being done to stop these crimes.”

Another hairdressers in Gold Street was targeted within the same hour as The Gent and money was stolen.

Beauty With Inn in Harlestone Road was the fourth property targeted over the weekend.

Natalie Faulkner who owns the salon said: “Our alarm was tampered with so I got an alert on my phone.

“I ran around there and the police got there five minutes after I called.

“The thieves had smashed the door, took petty cash that was there and within seconds were gone.

“I’m sure it’s the same person that did The Gent. It’s horrible and not fair on us as we work hard.”

A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police said: “RSPCA in Main Road was broken into sometime between 4.30pm on February 29 and 9am on March 1. Someone smashed the window to the front door and stole a charity box.

“Two hairdressers on Gold Street were broken into between 3am and 4am am on March 1 in which the offenders broke a window to get in. Money was stolen.”

The spokeswoman also confirmed that an incident at the Harlestone Road property took place between 1.20am and 1.30am on March 1.
