Seven people were fined after police had to break up a house party in Rushden on Monday, April 5.

Police were called to a residence in Beaconsfield Place in the early hours of Monday morning after receiving a number of noise complaints from neighbours.

The house party was subsequently broken up and seven £200 Covid fines were handed out, amounting to a total of £1,400.

One of the officers deployed to the house party, PC Wes Owen, tweeted: "We issued 7 #COVID19 fines, so it was an expensive party. Its frustrating we are still having such incidents. None of us have enjoyed these lockdowns and restrictions. #WeAreAlmostThere"

The latest easing of lockdown restrictions on March 29 allows for six people or two households to meet outdoors for non-essential reasons so long as they are socially distanced.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced yesterday that the plan for non-essential retail, gyms, hairdressers and outdoor pubs and restaurants to re-open will go ahead next week from Monday, April 12.
