Prolific shoplifter jailed after stealing nearly £6,000 worth of items from Boots, Morrisons and Tesco in Northampton
A prolific shoplifter has been jailed after he stole nearly £6,000 of items from Boots, Morrisons Daily and Tesco Express in Northampton.
Lee Borucki, of Newnham Road, appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on May 9, where he pleaded guilty to seven counts of theft from a shop.
Between February 6 and March 16 this year, the 44-year-old targeted Boots Pharmacy in Alexandra Terrace, Morrisons Daily in Whitehills Crescent and Tesco Express in Links Road, stealing more than £5,800 worth of items, including cosmetics and designer fragrances.
At the same hearing, Borucki also admitted one count of failing to attend court, after a bench warrant was issued for his arrest when he did not turn up for his hearing at the same court on May 8.

Retail Crime Officer at Northamptonshire Police, PC Kate Cayton said: “Retail crime is in no way a victimless offence – it harms store workers, businesses and contributes to higher prices for the rest of us.
“Lee Borucki’s persistent offending has caused untold stress and misery on those businesses that he targeted, and we hope that the custodial sentence imposed by the courts will provide him with the help and support he clearly needs.
“We also hope this sentence sends a clear message to other persistent offenders that we, alongside our partners, will continue to take retail crime very seriously and work hard to prevent offences, support stores and bring those responsible to justice.”
Borucki was sentenced at the same hearing to a total of 52-weeks for the seven shoplifting offences, and a further two-weeks to run concurrently for failing to attend court. He was also ordered to pay £3,305 compensation.
